Appearances can be deceiving. In technology, the operational function is more important than form.

The first days of living in a new home should be exciting, and, operationally sound. The last thing you want to realize is that the previous owners have packed up critical wireless access points or the movers have hauled away a loose system processor. The typical setback we usually encounter for these properties is a critical communication loss between sub-systems (lights, shades, pools, security, wifi). It is also typical for wall touch panel controllers to have no power, the built-in speakers have no music source and critical video systems “programmed” remotes were packed up. These are all very expensive to repair and replace.

A residential technology inspection prevents all of this.

Buyers/agents (pre-PURCHASE inspection)

Let us assess the current condition of the home’s system, address non-working systems and generate the list of home automation inclusions that are required for move-in. If a few key components are removed from the home, it can break the integration and be expensive or cumbersome to repair.

Buyers/agents (POST-PURCHASE inspection)

You moved in and there is some type of smart home system!? 1) The systems is not working, where do I start? 2) You want to make changes or customization 3) You want to understand what the system capabilities are and if you can add your tech to it?

We will answer all of these questions and run a full system health report. We can most likely retrieve the house systems documentation and source code for the property and generate your options for next steps, including instructions from the service provider. There is critical configuration information they will need to know for a seamless transition.

Scope of Work & Report

  • Analysis of audio & visual systems

  • Analysis of lighting controls & environmental controls

  • Home automation platform overview

  • Identify original system provider

  • Retrieve all system documentation and source program files/ passwords

  • Complete report for upcoming service provider Shaw/Telus “how to” (IP structure)

  • Report “Inclusions” to the real estate agent (pre-inspection) These items must remain with the house

  • Report non-working systems and next steps
